CashBook: Expense Manager Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for CashBook: Expense Manager

Last Updated: 14 Sept 2026

CashBook: Expense Manager ("the App") is built as an offline-first application. Your financial data remains strictly on your device unless you explicitly choose to use optional cloud backup features.

1. Information You Store in the App

The App allows you to enter financial information such as income and expense transactions, amounts, categories, payment modes, dates, notes, and optionally, business party/customer names. By default, all of this data is stored locally on your device's internal storage using a secure SQLite database. If you enable cloud backup, this data is securely uploaded to Google Firebase servers.

2. Device Permissions Required

The App requests the following permissions only when required:

  • Biometrics: Used solely for the App Lock feature to ensure only you can open the app.
  • Contacts (Optional): Used only if you explicitly choose to select a contact to quickly add as a Business Party. The app does not read or upload your entire contact list.
  • Microphone (System): Used solely for the Voice-to-Text note feature. Audio is processed by the Android system and is never recorded or stored by the app.
  • Notifications: Used to show reminders for recurring transactions if you enable them.

3. Optional Google Sign-In & Cloud Backup

The App does NOT require you to create an account to use core features. However, if you choose to use the optional "Sign in with Google" feature, the App uses Firebase Authentication to securely identify you. We receive your basic Google profile information (such as name and email address) to enable cloud backup and restore features. We do not have access to your Google password.

4. Third-Party Services

The App does NOT integrate any advertising networks (like Google AdMob) or usage analytics SDKs. No background tracking is collected. The app uses Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) for optional cloud backups, and native Android system services for certain features like Speech Recognition and Contact Picker.

5. Data Security

We take your financial privacy seriously. Local data remains on your device and can be protected using the Biometric App Lock feature in Settings. Cloud data is transferred over a secure, encrypted connection and is strictly isolated to your authenticated user account. We recommend keeping your device screen locked. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Deletion

You have full control over your data. To delete your data, you can choose from the following options:

  • Local Data: You can delete individual transactions, entire cashbooks, or clear all local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing storage from your Android system settings. Once deleted, local data cannot be recovered.
  • Cloud Account Data: If you have used the optional Google Sign-In feature to back up your data, you can permanently delete your cloud account and all associated backed-up data by visiting our official Account Deletion Page: https://cashbook-expense-manager.web.app/ Simply sign in with your Google account on that page and click "Delete My Cloud Data" to permanently remove your data from our servers.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the application, our practices, legal requirements, or other relevant circumstances. Any updated version will be made available through this screen.
